Welcome To Friends Of Freemantles

Friends of Freemantles (FoF) is a parent and staff run charity that raises funds for Freemantles school.

Although the school has wonderful specialist, purpose-built facilities and an enormously dedicated teaching staff, it lacks the State funds to meet the cost of many of the things that enhance the children’s education and extend their opportunities.

Over the past 2 years our funds have gone towards a replacement minibus, new primary department playground equipment, gazebos for sports day and FoF events, a sports equipment shed, a chicken coop for the animal care area, and a wooden pavilion for outdoor teaching and break times.

In order to raise these funds, throughout the year we seek donations, and run events such as our Annual Summer Family Fun Day, Christmas Pantomime, bi-annual raffle draws, Easter and Christmas tombolas and parents Quiz Nights and Race Nights as well as events outside the school to create a safe and enjoyable environment in the community for the students and their families, for example, Mizens Railway, Santa’s Grotto visits and much more.

We are currently raising money for the newly announced upgraded horticulture and animal care area – The Heart. This expanded and enhanced area will be used and maintained by the secondary and FE students as part of their vocational learning, and also visited and used by the primary department for sensory regulation and visiting the animals. Sitting in the middle of all the Freemantles buildings, and having the capacity to be used by every student and staff member, this project will be enjoyed by everyone.

This is a big project that has already started to take shape, but we need your help to buy in bigger and better housing for the animals, larger and more fun sensory activities, and plants and seeds. More information will be available on the night and over the next few months. 

We welcome any new members at all our meetings, at any time of the year, so if you want to just pop along to see what we do or how you can get involved then please do. We are also always looking for volunteers for different events to help run stalls, help with setting up, or making contact with potential new venues.
